How registrants can add a link at the top of their The Knot website leading to their registry at your store.
April 26, 2024
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: Your registrants can now share their registry at your store on The Knot more easily.
By default, The Knot lists manually added registries at the bottom of the page. The Knot lists registries from big-box names, like Target and Crate & Barrel, at the top of the page. Unfortunately, this makes it harder for gift givers to find your store in a registrant's list of registries.
There isn’t a way to change the page order to have the ...

How Shop Local helps 4 retailers rank on page 1 of Google in Mississippi
March 21, 2024
Indie stores have the best chance of ranking highly in Google when they use Shop Local. Merchants know this because of their page 1 rankings and how they beat big-box stores in search tests, such as for Mississippi results.
These Shop Local retailers located in Mississippi appear on page one of Google due to their Shop Local Store:
What we can learn about a company through its mission statement.
June 30, 2023
This past week, I read a mission statement from The Knot's corporate website (https://www.theknotww.com/). The statement included a paragraph and five principles. The paragraph describes what the parent company does. The statement says:
"We help couples around the world navigate and enjoy life’s biggest moments together. As a global company, our industry-leading websites, top-ranked mobile apps, and trusted resources provide the most sought-after information, connections, and ...

Bridge helps 1,000 indie stores offer gift registries. We've handled 70,000 registries. One trend we've noticed over the year is The Knot, a leading wedding website provider, is minimizing sales opportunities for indie stores. The Knot has created partnerships with big-box players, including Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Amazon, and relegated the indie stores to the bottom of the bride's page.
In this example, we see the indie stores displayed at the very bottom ...

In the movie Good Will Hunting, Matt Damon, who plays a handsome MIT janitor moonlighting as a math savant (can one say, “Hollywood career vehicle”?), woos a young lady (played by the actress Minnie Driver) by outmaneuvering a few competing, obnoxious cads. When Damon’s character gets the girl's telephone number, he proudly shows it to the other guys and boasts, with his South Boston access, “How 'bout ‘dem apples?” I imagine Tim Cook imitating this...

Bridge is helping indie stores compete against the big-box stores and big-money players.
Bridge will help more than 700 indie stores service 7,000 registries this year. Collectively, we’re moving millions of dollars in sales from big players to small stores and their communities.
Proof of this is when we see a bride registered at five stores and 40% of them are Bridge Store clients. The bride lists these registry choices:
When a customer visits a bride's gift registry on theknot.com, the customer can buy from four big-box stores--or one indie store. The indie store's website and gift registry are powered by: Bridge.
We're proud to help the indie store be displayed alongside these retail giants. The Regency Collection, owned by Linda Geffen and based in Boca Raton, Florida, appears alongside Bed, Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma,...

Indie Bridge stores outrank two national chains when one Google’s gift registry service for a state.
Breed & Co. and P.S the Letter, two Texas-based stores that use Bridge to power their online stores, beat Dillard’s and Target when one Goolges “gift registry Texas.” When one Googles other state names, Bridge retailers in those states also beat national chains.
When stores choose to power their online operations with Bridge, they are choosing ...

C. On your Gift Registry home page on the right hand side, there is a registry login field. Below this login form there is a link that says "Forgot ...

How successful is your 5-step incentive program for brides? In at least 94% of registries, stores benefited. In just 6% of cases did a bride complete all the 5 steps and the store gave the bride an in-store gift card.
Notably, even when a bride does complete all 5 steps and receives the in-store gift card, the store still wins because the bride provided publicity for the store, helped the store's Google ranking, and likely directed $1,000s worth of business to the store.
Theknot has a ton of great tips on mastering your bridal registry! One of the things they recommend is to register at two to four different places to give guests choices. To make it easy on yourself and others, pick one store for bedding, another for china, and so on. We'd love to help you pick out china that fits your couple style. A classic pick is this Digital collection from bernard aud! To Start Registry Click Here

"Websites are dead. The future belongs to platforms." This was my take away from a meeting with Coton Colors in Atlanta. A Coton Colors marketing director recalled how when she was at McGraw Hill publishers were aghast when someone said "Printed textbooks are dead." I think that declaring anything dead sounds a little dramatic, but it can be prescient and help people understand a larger trend.
The attached line chart graphic is something that I did a few months back. One of the chart lines ...
