Qualifications
We are looking for motivated people that:

• Wish to see indie stores, brands, and reps succeed.
• Support the shop local movement.
• Are comfortable with computers, websites, and social media.
• Are comfortable with Excel.
• Are comfortable training others.
• Are comfortable using services such as GoToMeeting.com and Zoom.
• Are comfortable calling prospective businesses and sharing how an online service works.
• Are comfortable writing content including: client communications, project instructions, articles, and help documents.
• Experience with product management a plus, including via Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, BigCommerce, or Magento.
• Past experience with Shop Local is a plus but not required.

 
Hours

• The roles are freelance and entail 30-40 hours per week.

 
Location

• The roles can be conducted remotely (e.g. from a home office).

 
Compensation

• Pay for roles is higher than industry norms.
• Shop Local employees are hired as Independent Contractors and must provide their own equipment.

Shop Local is a fast-growing e-commerce and gift registry platform providing services to leading independent retailers and premium brands. Based in New York, NY, Shop Local is seeking candidates to support the existing software and build out new services that will change the retail industry.

We are a small dev team who works in a full stack fashion. There are many opportunities to sharpen your skills as well as explore developing new skills in programming and application spaces using a variety of technologies. Dev team collaboration is central to the way we work and we're dedicated into fostering a diverse and inclusive environment focused on the success of our customers and our Shop Local platform.

Shop Local has an opening for an entry level web developer to update the existing code base and write new applications. We are seeking candidates who are proficient in:

• HTML5
• CSS / CSS frameworks (Bootstrap)
• Responsive web design
• jQuery
• JavaScript (ES6+ preferred)
• ColdFusion / CFML experience
• MySQL
• iOS - Swift / SwitftUI

• Assist in design, development, testing, and maintenance of web applications utilizing ColdFusion, JavaScript, and Swift related technologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Revise, edit, proofread, and optimize web content.

• At least 1 - 2 years of experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Proficiency in at least one server-side technology (ColdFusion (preferred), Java, PHP, NodeJS, Python).
• Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work.

• Familiarity with mobile app development and responsive design.
• ColdFusion knowledge / certification.
• Familiarity with e-commerce API development and integration.
• Familiarity with iOS application development with Swift / SwiftUI.
