Anchor Hocking, located in Lancaster, Ohio, employed 5,000 craftspeople that sold glasses across the nation and world. Due to business and government changes, the town is now a ghost of itself. I highly recommend reading this WSJ book review that sums up history for many small American cities from 1960 to 2010.
