When HFN magazine shared new introductions from the Atlanta show, Bridge was happy to see that five out of the 11 brands featured (45%) are Bridge partner brands. Why is this important? Retailers using Bridge will immediately display these new introductions in their Bridge Stores without any work or money spent. This technology allows the retailers to more quickly market and sell these products.
Brands featured in the article that are Bridge partner brands include:

Today’s Times shares that Amazon Prime members often spend twice as much compared to those that aren’t members. This led to me ponder: What if a first step to reducing Amazon’s monopolies is just canceling a $119/year ‘membership’? Prime may be Amazon’s strength—as well as its achilles. If we can find a way to undermine it, I believe one can save money and our communities.
A recent study shared that Amazon is now the leading provider of ...

Allison Zisko, the Editor-in-Chief at HFN magazine, can use your help. She is working on a story about fourth quarter promotions. She would like to know:
- Will Q4 promotions continue as usual in light of current economic factors? Are promotions still necessary, particularly when margins are so tight? What are vendors and retailers thinking about this?
- Consumer demand for product remains high.
- Inventory is limited. Product introductions are hindered by the

We’re pleased to see William-Wayne & Co. featured in the article. This NYC retail heirloom has been a client since 2001–before we even started Bridge or the Smart Products marketing service. They’re still a client today. Thank you William-Wayne & Co. for trusting with...

Allison Zisko in this month’s HFN shares that The Knot has launched its own direct-to-consumer sales channel—seeking to cut out its long-standing brick-and-mortar partners like Macy’s, Target, and indie stores.
This new sales channel raises the stakes on the growing battle between The Knot and Zola.
Macy’s, Walmart, and Target would be wise to team up and launch their own gift registry platform—akin to how the TV networks collaborated to ...

In this month’s HFN magazine, Editor Allison Zisko gives Bridge a shout out in her ‘Letter from the Editor’ column. She encourages the home goods industry to adopt digital marketplaces (trade shows) now, and notes that Bridge started offering an online platform for the tabletop industry years ago.
She notes that many big, well-funded trade shows (read IMC, which may spend $100m, and Messe) have suddenly seen the writing on the wall and are building competitors to Faire...

39% percent of all e-commerce sales were made on a smartphone on Black Friday, according to research from Adobe reported on by Andrea Lillo in HFN magazine.
And this growth came at the expense of in-store traffic: "In-store traffic on Black Friday fell 2.1 percent compared to last year, Newsday reported this morning, citing RetailNext, a San Jose, Calif.-based retail analytics company. "
Ms Lillo goes on to share that big e-commerce companies, such as Amazon, are beating up indie stores on this ...

Fifty percent of the U.S. book market is controlled by Amazon, while Barnes & Noble has 8%. This book market share split shows that shoppers value convenience and price more than customer service. Anyone that says retail can be helped, saved, or fixed by concentrating on anything but convenience and price is wrong.
For example, an HFN columnist whom I won’t name is often extolling the need to make the in-store shopping experience fun and interesting. Similarly, a market building president ...

Ms. Zisko shares that Amazon is making big inroads and investments in the college market. What are you doing to keep pace?
