How products ‘break’ when shared digitally between suppliers and retailers
1. These vases represent a supplier’s original product data. The supplier has products images matched up to product descriptions with dimensions, care & usage, etc. These pieces of data are all embedded with each other and give an accurate, complete view of the products.
2. The supplier prepares to share its product with stores. To do this, the supplier has to break the data up into Excel and Dropbox files.
3. The retailer receives the supplier’s data via Excel and Dropbox. Often, the retailer can’t reassemble the data and images back in the way that the supplier originally had it. The retailer either doesn’t have the technical know how, the time, or a website that can all store the data that has been sent. Therefore, the retailer deletes things that have been sent or doesn’t import certain data (e.g. dimensions, care & usages).
4. End result: the supplier’s data doesn’t match what was intended on the retailer’s site. It’s not truly what was sent. It’s a ‘broken,’ limited version of what was sent.
What if there was a way to not have the data ‘break’ when its shared and reassembled? Bridge is this solution.
