Arnold Schwarzenegger, Future Bridge Spokesperson?
Today's Wall St. Journal shares that Target stores saw a 20% increase in revenue--more than the chain had seen in the last 11 years combined. How did it do it? Target converted many of its physical stores into 'mini-warehouses,' where they can ship goods or have customers do curbside pick up.
What does this mean for indie stores? Stores will have to become more efficient in receiving online orders, which make up 40% of retail these ...

These days, ugly Amazon warehouses are beating up pretty retail stores. Many stores in 2020 had record online sales that made up 40% or more of revenue, but they are struggling because they had to bear the burden of retail stores. Retail stores cost more per square foot to rent, furnish, and maintain. They also cost more to staff. A warehouse person need not be a people person and a snazzy dresser; they can exhibit anger management issues and ...

When we watch or read the news, we can see how important what we do is. Online advertising is great for brands. It's bad for: indie stores.
Why? Before the Internet, there were few ways for brands to cut out stores. They may have an annual warehouse sale, but that was about it. Today, a customer visits a retailer website and looks at brand X. Or it visits brand X's site to do some research. The issue for indie stores: thanks to online advertising, now I'm being marketed to across the web. I'm reading news on the New York Post website and being encouraged to...

My colleague Josh sent me this book and no joke sent it via Amazon. When asked why, he said so could save $1 off the retail price and get free shipping. Hmmm... And, why is the author selling his book on Amazon in the first place? I was half expecting to open it and find it full of empty pages. What else should one expect in receiving a book about how bad Amazon is from Amazon? Who knows, maybe the Amazon warehouse staff licked it.
Dear Amazon and author: Please don’t tempt ...

Target now sources 80% of its online orders from stores, not warehouses, shares the Wall St. Journal.
Stores have less foot traffic (foot traffic to U.S. stores fell about 6.2% on Black Friday ) and more online shopping (online sales reached $7.4 billion on Black Friday, up from $6.2 billion last year), forcing stores to convert 'floor' employees into roles dealing with e-commerce and shipping. "At the Brooklyn store around 80 workers handle internet orders, collecting products from shelves or...

I read the New York Times and want to ask: Are we sharpening our executioner's sword? That is what FedEx wondered as it helped Amazon grow by delivering its packages. Finally, FedEx woke up and decided it's better to make less money tomorrow than help usher in its death in the near future. As the Times reports, FedEx is terminating its ground delivery agreement with Amazon at the end of August, thereby passing on the delivery of millions of packages.
Amazon has historically partnered with ...

Wired magazine shares the inside of an Amazon warehouse. What's missing? People. That little orange robot will likely replace many of your local jobs.
How does Amazon keep shipping prices low? Just place the packages on the street. This spot is traditionally filled with garbage from the pizza restaurant. Todayβs itβs Amazonβs unofficial shipping and receiving warehouse.

With the objective of continuous growth and in order to offer the best service and support to our US customers, we have decided to partner with Devine Corp, effective January 1st.
