New York magazine reports that shopping on Amazon is a mess. It’s got an antiquated interface and lots of spam results and reviews. It’s not a nice experience and you’re not sure what you’re buying.
Excerpt:
“There was the ’90s-retro e-commerce interface, which conceals a marketplace of literally millions of sellers, each scrapping for relevance, using Amazon as a sales channel for their own semi-independent businesses. It subjected ...

You’ve likely had a vodka-Red Bull cocktail in your lifetime, which was followed by a hangover for you—but helped drink co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz amass a $20b fortune. Mateschitz, who passed away last week at the age of 78, discovered the drink in the 1980s in Thailand and built it into a global brand. He promoted Red Bull, whose name is a translation of the drink’s Thai name "Krating Daeng,” via a variety of clever marketing initiatives. In the early 2000s, I ...

The Times' magazine recently reviewed the book summarizing service Blinkist. Blinkest claims to give members $89,000 in value (the combined value of books offered) for $8/month. That's a great deal for readers.

Botanic Garden, a pattern from the brand Portmeirion, is celebrating its 50th anniversary shares Tableware Today magazine. The pattern, which is based on an 1817 herbal book’s illustrations, was unconventional at the time because it came in unmatching sets. Store buyers feared it wouldn’t sell. The rooster is a symbol of prosperity and positivity in Italy, and the watercolor brushstrokes and vibrant hues of the Gallo Pattern will invite that good fortune and Italian optimism into your home. Look for Vietri's ad with Glassworks in the new House Beautiful Magazine.

When talking about memberships and subscriptions, these two business models are sometimes interchanged but actually are different. They often differ in their pricing, customers, and offerings. A subscription is often not a membership, but a membership often encompasses a subscription. A membership is often an elevated and more powerful subscription that collectivizes and leverages the subscribers.
What They Have In Common
With both models, you often pay a fee and receive a ...

In a 2007 article in The New Yorker, Atul Gawande, a surgeon and an author, advocatedthat more hospitals use checklists. He cited many medical studies showing how checklists save lives (and money). Implementing one checklist, a hospital "…prevented forty-three infections and eight deaths, and saved two million dollars in costs." The startling part: the list was only five steps long! In other words, people don’t consistently follow...

At my local postal shop, which doubles as a surprise book purveyor and emergency greeting card supplier, I picked up this guide by Monocle, a magazine and book publisher, about indie shops. The book, ‘The Monocle Guide to Shops, Kiosks, and Markets,’ has an appreciation for brick-and-mortar retail that mirrors our ethos here at Bridge. Local shops bring people together and support communities unlike online-only marketplaces. We encourage citizens to ‘unplug’ and browse ...

I recently saw an advertisement for Windows 11 in Wired magazine. I thought: “Wow, finally something from Microsoft that someone can understand: a logical name for their software offering.” I recall a time when Microsoft had a confusing litany of software names including: NT, 98, 2000, Millennium (ME), Windows XP, and Vista--before finally relegating those clumsy names to the desktop recycle bin and adopting a simple, progressive number system. Apple has been naming its ...

Vietri, a premium designer of Italian home goods and an advertiser with Bridge, ran a pretty advertisement in this month’s ‘Garden & Gun’ magazine. The ad features 33 dealers throughout the South where one can buy Vietri.
Of the 33 stores listed, 12 (more than 33%) use Bridge Store to more easily sell Vietri.
These retailers use Bridge Store (listed in same order as advertisement):
When HFN magazine shared new introductions from the Atlanta show, Bridge was happy to see that five out of the 11 brands featured (45%) are Bridge partner brands. Why is this important? Retailers using Bridge will immediately display these new introductions in their Bridge Stores without any work or money spent. This technology allows the retailers to more quickly market and sell these products.
Brands featured in the article that are Bridge partner brands include:
