It is immediately identifiable by its glamorous plumage; however, even if presented only in silhouette, the wood duck would still be recognizable by its unique shape consisting of a famously boxy, crested head and long, broad tail. Luckily, Herend's figurine features all dimensions and kaleidoscopic colors of this perching waterfowl and combines multiple patterns and painting techniques to expertly capture this North American beauty.

This female pheasant seems to be keeping a wary eye on her surroundings although her motivation to run away has been tempered by her desire to show off her beautifully painted plumage - done Herend-style. Her normal cinnamon color takes on an exotic air when combined with pops of 24K gold and a fish scale treatment on her wings that hints at the pheasant's Asian origins.

We are excited to present the newest addition to the Nativity Scene which is a donkey. His gray fishnet coast has spots of brown which create a sun-dappled appearance while 24K gold highlights add to his appeal. While we don't want to skip over the autumnal season, we wanted to alert you early since 2023 quantities will be limited.

While this mother & baby are a North American subspecies of the brown bear, they are more commonly known as grizzly bears. As to the origin of their name, the bears can thank none other than Lewis & Clark whose journals mention a "grisley bear" no doubt referring to these majestic symbols of the wild whose grizzled appearance is caused by the long guard hairs on their backs and shoulders frequently having white tips. The fur of these bears is often dark brown but can vary from ...

The American Kestrel may be North America's smallest raptor but by no means does that diminish its abilities as a hunter as evidenced by those impressive talons. What it lacks in size the kestrel makes up in coloration since it is considered the most colorful of raptors. Often found perched on a wire or a pole, the kestrel will pump its long tail to keep its balance while scanning for an unfortunate grasshopper. The sculptors and painters at Herend had no desire to embellish such a dignified ...

Mother nature perfected him and now Herend's artists have immortalized the famous little shorebird often found darting along the water's edge doing his memorable bobbing dance. With stilt-like legs designed for standing in water and a long beak ideal for digging for coastal creatures, the sandpiper is a common presence along beaches (but can actually be found anywhere with water). In the hands of Herend's artists, the sandpiper makes his debut in dramatic fashion from his striking coloration to ...

Herend, a maker of fine tableware and giftware, was mentioned by the Stephanie Carter, the wife of the ex-Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter.
Excerpt:
“She added a few new pieces, including Herend ceramic figurines of a lion and a squirrel. “I called Ash ‘Lion’ and he called me ‘Squirrelly,’” she explained. “All these things make me feel like he’s with me in a great way, not in a preserved-in-amber way.” “
Depictions of mythical mermaids differ strongly. Sometimes they are sirens of the sea luring sailors to their deaths with their song. Other times they are keepers of the ocean charged with rescuing mankind from accidents. Regardless of the mermaid's intent, the legends agree that they are elusive, alluring beauties. Herend's mermaid, with her soft smile, is not sharing her secrets today but even without her song, she still enchants. Perched on a giant clam shell with its pearlized core exposed, ...

When mother nature gets it right from the start, she knows better than to continuously improve upon her own design. That is probably why the nautilus has remained virtually unchanged in over 500 million years and is considered to be a living fossil. The artists at Herend know perfection when they see it, so they have decided to simply add some Herend-style flourishes such as dramatic gold fishnet and touches of pearlized paint to further highlight the beautiful details of this animal.

Speaking volumes without uttering a sound, the story of a fierce apex predator is told through a powerful sculpture and dramatic painting. As the largest living cat species, a tiger needs no introduction nor embellishment and through the artists at Herend, the intensity, energy and beauty of this feline is exquisitely captured in porcelain.

Often described as flying jewels due to their remarkable colors, some male hummingbirds have learned to orient their bodies and feathers towards the sun to enhance the visual impact of their iridescent plumage and to heighten their appeal during courtship. It appears that Herend's hummingbird has learned this lesson well and has briefly stopped his dazzling wings so that their beauty can be appreciated from all angles. However, this avian acrobat won't sit still for long and in a blink of an eye...

Freshly painted for the season, this horse is sure to be the most popular choice during those hectic seconds when the gates to the merry-go-round open and picking the best carousel horse seems critically important. Did their flamboyant, gregarious nature come first or did their vibrant pink feathers? Either way, roseate spoonbills are known equally for their colorful, unusual appearance (that large spoon-shaped bill) and their very social behavior. The artists at Herend have adhered to a faithful rendition but have naturally added distinctive Herend touches with a sparkling platinum fishnet pattern combined with meticulous details on the feathers to draw deliberate attention to this defining part of the ...
