The Perfect Guest at a Dinner Party
By CHERYL LU-LIEN TAN
A guest at a dinner party has an important role. "The perfect dinner guest should be gracious and interested in the people around him or her," says Andrew Zimmern, host and creator of Travel Channel's "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern," who has been a dinner guest in the homes of royalty, tribal chiefs and average families as part of his shows.

How You Know Him
Creator, executive producer and host of Travel Channel's 'Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern' and two other related shows.
Won two James Beard Awards for 'Outstanding Food Personality' (2010) and 'Best TV program on location' (2012).
Author of three books based on his food adventures, including 'The Bizarre Truth.'
Created AZ Canteen, a national roving food truck that sells interesting dishes inspired by his travels, in 2012.
The easiest way to make sure the evening goes well is to enter a dinner party knowing something about the hosts and the guests. His approach is "I want to learn from you. Being a good listener is all about asking a good question."
If he and his hosts don't know each other well, Mr. Zimmern sometimes tries to break the ice by asking questions about what's around him. "Look for ways to connect—walk around your host's living room and ask them about the tchotchkes they have."
