Here's a lesson in how to ruin your registry business. This retailer changed three default settings in Bridge that help brides promote the store. Since the store changed these settings, the store is losing $1,000s in sales to Walmart, Crate & Barrel, and Amazon. You can see how on the left most registries have $0 or little in sales. Instead, family and friends are shopping on competitors' sites.
To avoid this mistake, please be sure to do the following: A. You will want to be sure that select 'yes' for send a bride a welcome email (#1 in the screen shot). This email has a link to the bride's registry on your site. She needs this email because she needs the link in it. She needs to share this link with family and friends, and on her official website. If you leave this setting set to 'yes', don't worry if you need to not send the welcome email in a specific instance; you can turn off the welcome email when you're setting up the registry as an admin.
B. You will want to give the bride an incentive to open a registry at your store (#2 in the screen shot). Amazon, Crate & Barrel, Target, and Zola all gives financial incentives. To compete, you have to give incentives, too.
C. You will want to give the bride a gift card when she completes five steps that promote her registry on your site (#3 in the screen shot). Participating in this incentive program is the MOST important thing you can do. It is the MOST financially rewarding promotional step an indie store can take online. You will make a multiple return on your outlay.
Please note: if you are unsure what a setting does, please ask Bridge.
