Your business may experience a transfer of ownership while using Shop Local. Before transferring your business to the new owner, please follow the steps below to ensure that all information is updated on your Shop Local account.
To Update Your Shop Local Account
- Notify a Shop Local coach of the transfer of ownership. You may send an email to a coach with the new owner CC'd or provide the coach with the new owner's contact information. The coach will contact them to offer a coaching session to review the account and provide training.
- Provide the new owner with access to your business' Shop Local account. The new owner may access the account using the existing login credentials, or you may create a new admin login for them. The new owner may change the password to either login at a later time.

Add a Team Member
- Update the billing information on file with Shop Local to the new owner's information. If you wish to pay via check, you can put ACH (electronic checking information) on file. You can log in to your Shop Local account and submit your ACH information in your "Services & Billing" page. If you wish to use a credit card, please let a coach know.
*** Please note that the previous owner's ACH or credit card information will continue to be billed until new information has been placed on file.
If your Shop Local Store is using Service First and Authorize.net to accept cards, you’ll also need to update the information on the authorize.net and Service First accounts.
To Update your Service First Merchant Account
- If the merchant account with Service First has the business' old EIN and owner information, you, the current owner, will need to close the existing merchant account. To close the account, please contact Service First to let them know of the transfer of ownership.
To contact Service First, please call them at (866) 372-5551 or email them at [email protected]. You will need to provide them with your Merchant Identification Number (MID).
Your MID can always be found on your Shop Local account on the General Business Settings page. Please follow these steps to view this information:- Log in to your Shop Local account.
- Click Management at the top of the page to open your Management Home page.
- Under My Business Profile & Settings, click Online Store.
- On your Online Store page, please find the “Retail Purchasing Online” section.
- In this section, you’ll see "Your Business' Credit Card Payment Processor Merchant #:”
- If the new owner has a new EIN and banking information, they must open a new merchant account with Service First. To open a new merchant account, please follow the steps below:
- Notify a Shop Local coach to let them know that the new business owner will need to submit a new credit card processing application. You may send an email to a coach with the new owner CC'd or provide the coach with the new owner's contact information.
- The coach will send the new owner an email with the credit card processing terms and fees for review and written approval.
- The coach will work with the new owner to get a new application completed and submitted to Service First.
To Update your Authorize.net Account
- The new owner may continue to use the existing authorize.net account linked with a new Service First merchant account. Please be sure to provide them with the authorize.net login credentials. If needed, please be sure to update the account owner profile information. To update the information, please follow the steps below:
- Log in to your authorize.net account.
- In the left navigation menu, click User Profile under Account.
- On the Account Owner Profile page, click Edit Profile Information.
- On the Edit Account Owner Profile Information page, update the user information and email address.
- Click Submit to continue or click Cancel to cancel the action.
- You will then be asked to request and verify via PIN, which will be sent to the email address on file.
- Your user profile is now updated.
- To update the new owner's banking information (where funds will be deposited), a new credit card application will need to be submitted. Please follow the steps above under the "To Update your Service First Merchant Account" section to update the ACH information.
- To update the new owner's billing information on the account (where fees are taken out), please follow the steps below:
- Log in to your authorize.net account.
- In the left navigation menu, click Billing Information under Account.
- In the Bank Account Information section, click Edit.
- Enter the appropriate bank account billing information:
- Name on Account
- Account Type
- Account Owner Type
- ABA Routing Number
- Account Number
- Bank Name
- Bank City
- Bank State
- Bank ZIP Code
- Click Submit to continue or click Cancel to cancel the action. The Billing Information Confirmation and Payment Authorization page appears.
- Review the Bank Account Information section to verify that the information entered is accurate. If you need to correct any information, click the Back button located at the bottom of the page.
- Click I Authorize.
- You will then be asked to request and verify via PIN, which will be sent to the email address on file.
- Your bank account billing information is now configured for your payment gateway account.
