Remember Bon-Ton? The department store chain went out of bsuisnss because it had too much debt and didnβt invest in the web reports todayβs WSJ. Its massive debt stymied its ability to compete onlineβaka build the website experience it needed. With too much debt and a weak omnichannel experiences, it sunk.
Does this remind you of stores that you know? I called a cookware store yesterday that told me it has given up on selling online. I predict this store will sink like Bon-Ton.

Shoppers Go Online to Save Gas Money
This article below from the today's NYT echoes a conversation I had this week with a major tableware brand. The head of the company said that he can see a day when the traveling home goods salesperson will not travel. Instead, the person will do his or her sales presentations over the phone and web.
