New Feature: View an Order’s Real-Time Shipping Status
How to track packages in real-time in order to save time and make customers happier.
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: You (and your customers) can now easily see real-time shipping status for an order. Your Store displays the current shipping status (in transit, delivered, etc.) and the complete tracking history for the order.
Before this update, one had to view the shipping service’s website (e.g FedEx.com) to view its status. Now, you or shoppers can view all orders' real-time status on your Shop Local Store and in emails.
How this feature works:
Your store ships an order using FedEx, UPS, USPS, or DHL. You receive a tracking number for the package.
You’ll add this tracking number to the order on your Shop Local Store.
You’re all set: our software will output the order's real-time status on the Orders home page and in the order's Details page. The software will also send email updates.
Email Alerts
Retail customers are sent emails with their shipping status updates as they change. For most orders, they will receive emails in this sequence: order is processing, order has is in transit, order is delivered. (Customers can unsubscribe from these shipping emails.)
Retail & Wholesale Orders
This shipping status feature works for both retail and wholesale orders. For example, your store can use it to see the shipping status of your wholesale order with a brand. The brand simply needs to add a tracking number. If it doesn’t, our service allows you to request a tracking number.
Please follow these steps to update an order's tracking number:
Log in to your Shop Local Store.
At the very top of your Shop Local site, click Orders. You'll be taken to the Orders home page.
On the Orders home page, you'll see all of your store's orders.
Click on the Order ID of the order for which you wish to add a tracking number. You'll be taken to the order's Details page.
On the order's Details page, click the pencil icon to update the shipping method.
A modal will appear asking if you have a tracking number. Click Yes.
Use the "Method" drop-down to select your carrier (UPS, DHL, FedEx, etc.).
Enter the tracking number.
Click Update.
Please follow these steps to view this feature:
Log in to your Shop Local Store.
At the very top of your Shop Local site, click Orders. You'll be taken to the Orders home page.
On the Orders home page, you'll see all of your store's orders. Orders with tracking information entered will display the carrier and the current shipping status.
Click on the Order ID if you wish to view a specific order.
On the order's Details page, you can view the carrier, tracking number, and current shipping status next to "Ship method."
Under the real-time status, click Details to view the tracking history for the order.
