Sassy Sign Promoting Shopping Small by a Florida Boutique
Nice to see this sign at an indie store, The Art of Simple, in Seaside, Florida.
“You may not know this, but if you shop with Amazon.com, you are not supporting small local businesses. If you want Amazon to be the world’s only retailer, keep shopping online at Amazon.com.
If you enjoy shopping in our store, buy from us. We appreciate your support. Thank you.”
If I were asked, I’d recommend these tweaks to this:
I’d add American and Florida flags to this design.
I’d mention Amazon less. The customer may remember Amazon’s name instead of The Art of Simple. We need the customer to walk away knowing The Art of Simple's name. (Note: This may be a generic sign that all the local stores can choose to display. Maybe the local business group made them, and that limits showing a specific store’s name.)
I think the sign could be a bit more specific about the benefits of shopping local. I’d add a bulleted list of benefits, including increasing local jobs and manufacturing and increasing local expertise and knowledge.
Customers want fast shipping and equal (or lower) prices compared to Amazon. Let’s give it to them. I’d mention that there is no faster "shipping" than picking up the item right in front of you and walking out of our store. It’s also "free shipping." I’d also mention price matching.
