A customer can give a gift card to a friend or family member instantly via email
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature. Customers can now purchase a gift card online and have it delivered directly to the recipient's inbox—a fast, convenient way to celebrate any occasion.
💖 Why Customers Will Love This New Feature
- 📧 Gift cards are delivered instantly by email.
- 🎉 Perfect for last-minute gifting.
- 💝 Recipients can shop whenever it's convenient for them.
- 🛍️ Supports your store while giving customers a simple, flexible gift option.
Emailed Gift Cards also create another opportunity to build customer relationships. Because they are redeemed in your store rather than online, your team can provide exceptional service, showcase new merchandise, and often inspire purchases beyond the gift card value.
In addition to this new feature, we've also refreshed the look of our gift cards! You'll notice a beautiful new design featuring a soft pink background and an elegantly wrapped gift. We hope you love the updated look as much as we do.
Please Note: Email Gift Cards are available only for stores using real-time credit card processing. If your store does not currently offer real-time credit card processing, the email delivery option will not appear during checkout.
💡 Tips for Managing Email Gift Card Orders
To help you keep your gift card orders organized, we recommend the following workflow:
- When the emailed gift card is purchased, the order status will automatically update for you: Complete: Gift card emailed to recipient.
- When the recipient redeems the gift card, please track that in the Private Note field found on the order page.
- Add a private note to the order that includes:
- The date the gift card was redeemed.
- Your POS transaction number (or receipt number) for easy reference.
- If the customer brings in a printed copy of the gift card email, we recommend stapling it to your POS receipt to keep all documentation together for your records.
- You can track if/when the gift card has been used based on the Order ID #.
Following these simple steps will help you accurately track gift card purchases and redemptions while maintaining a clear order history for your team.
