Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: The Stock Management & Back Orders page.  

Managing inventory across multiple brands can be challenging—especially when vendors don’t share live stock availability or have minimum reorder requirements.  The Stock Management & Back Orders page gives you greater control over which products the general public can purchase through your Shop Local Store.

What Is It? 🆕

The new Stock Management & Back Orders page allows you to configure self-purchasing rules for each brand individually. These settings apply only to general public (non-registry) purchases and help reduce canceled orders while protecting profitability. Wedding and gift registry purchases are not impacted by these settings and will continue to follow your normal registry fulfillment process. 

For each brand, you can now manage:

• Store Stock Management: Indicate whether you manage inventory for a specific brand.
• Vendor Warehouse Availability: See if a brand shares warehouse inventory with Shop Local.  Easily invite them to share stock if they do not.
• Back Order Settings: Choose whether customers can purchase products when the brand's inventory is unavailable.  
• Self-Purchase Capability: Control whether general public shoppers can purchase products from a brand online.
• Price Floors: Set minimum purchase thresholds to help protect your margins and accommodate vendor reorder requirements.

Why This Matters 🎯

Many brands do not share live inventory with Shop Local. Without visibility into available stock, accepting online orders can sometimes lead to canceled purchases and disappointed customers.

These new controls help you:

• Reduce out-of-stock order issues.
• Improve the customer shopping experience.
• Protect your profitability.
• Manage vendor minimum reorder requirements.
• Make informed decisions on a brand-by-brand basis.
• Control risk while still maximizing online sales opportunities.

How to Access 🔎

1. Log in to your Shop Local account.
2. Hover over Products in your main navigational bar.
3. Select the Stock Management & Back Orders page, located in the right-hand column.

If a vendor has high minimum reorder requirements, consider setting Price Floors alongside your Stock & Back Order settings. This helps ensure online purchases remain profitable while still allowing registry customers to purchase gifts of any value.
