Use new settings to quickly add monogramming and a charge for it to products
FOR BRANDS AND DISTRIBUTORS
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: You can now add monogram information on a brand level or a product level.
1. New Setting: Brand-Level Update
We have added a new setting that lets you update your monogram fee. This can be updated via your Brand Settings (Roll over Management > Click Brand Settings).
A. On this page, you’ll see a “Product Options” section.
- Use the drop-down under “Default monogramming charge” to select the fee charged for monogramming.
- This fee is applied to monogrammable products when a customer chooses to have a product monogrammed.
- You can set this charge to your additional fee for monogram.
- Once you make your updates, please scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Save Your Changes.”
B. Please note: If you update this setting, all products on your Shop Local will have a monogram option with this additional fee, in addition to the current retail price set for a product.
- For example, let’s say you have a product that is $50.
- You update your settings to include a monogram fee of $20 for all products.
- If a customer adds monogramming to any $50 product, their total will be $70.
C. For products that have a separate monogram option, you’ll need to update the price so the fee isn’t applied twice.
- For example, let's say SKU SOL-1234-M was added as an individual monogram option with a retail price of $76. This was added to include the additional $20 monogram fee. The SKU for the item without monogram is SOL-1234.
- If you update your brand settings to include a $20 fee on all products, the price for SKU SOL-1234-M will be $96 if a customer adds monogram.
- You’ll want to be sure to go back into this product to archive or delete the additional monogram SKU (SKU SOL-1234-M). You can then update SOL-1234 to allow monogramming for an additional fee using either method (brand level or product level)
If you wish to only update specific products, please follow the steps under point 2.

You can view products that offer monogramming by going to your Shop Local site > Roll over Gifts > Click Monogram & Engravable Gifts.
These are likely the products whose prices will need adjusting. You’ll want to do a mass update on these products’ prices if you use the setting mentioned in A. If these products have multiple choices (like SOL-1234), you’ll likely want to archive or delete the additional monogram SKU (like SOL-1234-M).
2. Mass Updating Products: Product-Level Update
You can add monogram information to specific products at once (rather than on a brand level) via the Product Update tool (Roll over Products > Click Mass Update via Excel).
A. On this page, you’ll select “Monogram as your update topic:
- Format your Excel file to have these EXACT column names in the first row: SKU, Monogram, Length, Upcharge
- Enter 0 or 1 in the monogram column (0 = no; 1 = yes).
- Enter a number between 1 and 24 or 0 for unlimited in the length column to designate the maximum length for the monogram.
- Enter 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 or leave blank to revert to default set in brand in the upcharge column. This will set the additional amount charged for monogramming.
- You’ll then complete the steps on the page to validate, compare, and upload your Excel file.
B. This route will only update the designated SKUs. This is on a per-product basis and will override your brand settings (point 1).
C. This update will still be in addition to the current cost set for a product.
- For example, let’s say you have a product that is $50.
- You use the Product Update tool to upload a list of products.
- Your fee for the product in the Excel sheet is $20.
- If a customer adds monogramming to this product, their total will be $70.

When following the steps in point 2, we'd suggest testing this out with 5 SKUs to start. This will allow you to confirm if your updates were successful before updating a large number of products.
🚨 Important Notes:
- By default, all products will be updated based on the monogram fee set via the Brand Settings.
- The brand-level update (point 1 above) adds a fee for all monogram items that don't have a fee set. This is important to review if you have a product with two separate SKUs (one with monogram and one without).
- If your brand runs a product-level update (point 2 above), this will override your brand setting.
- For example, you updated your brand-level setting to $10 for monogram.
- You processed a product-level update for SKU SOL-1234, where the monogram fee is $20.
- All products via your Shop Local will be an additional $10 for monogram. SKU SOL-1234 will be $20 for monogram.
- Both methods will increase the price in addition to the existing price listed for a SKU. This is important to review if you have a product with two separate SKUs (one with monogram and one without).
