How important is adding a picture to a couple's wedding registry?

Shop Local's research shows that registries with a couple's picture generated $482 more in sales than those without a picture—a 17% sales boost.

We reviewed 3,150 wedding registries from U.S.-based indie retailers with brick-and-mortar locations. We found these trends:

1.  When a registry has a picture of the couple/registrant, the average purchase was $55 more—a 9.5% sales boost (55 / 573).
2. Total purchases for a registry with a picture are $482 greater.

Study Findings:

• Average gift purchase on a registry with a recipient's picture: $628.93.
• Average gift purchase without picture: $573.25.
• Total gift purchases for registry with a recipient's picture: $3,271.36.
• Total gift purchases for registry without picture: $2,788.41.

Survey base: 3,150 wedding registries at 18 U.S.-based indie retailers with one or more gifts given.
