NEW YORK — Shop Local, a wedding registry platform for independent retailers, has selected three tabletop brands and three retailers from among 100 finalists in each category for its Best Wedding Gifts awards.

The top brands are Herend, Juliska and Vietri. The top three retailers are The Ivy House in Dallas, Babcock Gifts in Memphis, Tenn., and P.S. The Letter in Fort Worth, Texas.

By state, Mississippi led with 17% of retail winners, followed by Texas (13%), Alabama (12%) and Louisiana (10%).

The finalists were chosen based on 2024 online wedding registry sales from 1,450 retailers that use Shop Local‘s Online Store and Registry service, which collectively sell 3,500 brands. The brands honored are the top 100 brands sold online via gift registries by the 1,450 stores that use Shop Local’s online store.

To be considered for the list, a retailer needed to be a client of Shop Local because Shop Local only has access to the online registry sales for its active retail clients. A brand did not need to be a Shop Local client to be considered. Fifty-eight percent of brands that received an honor are clients while 42% are not, Shop Local said.

“We’d seen awards given out in other industries for other topics, but not in our industry — indie stores selling wedding gifts,” said Jason Solarek, founder of CEO of Shop Local, in a release. “We realized we were likely the ones with crucial sales data needed to do this. We could help our industry identify the best brands and indies stores, and celebrate them.”

Shop Local tracks several data in compiling its awards, including the number of wedding gifts it offers online, the number of wedding registries the retailer has serviced, the number of reviews the retailer received from customers and registrants. The award includes the retailer’s name and address and a website link to open a wedding registry and shop for gifts.

The brand award includes the number of retail stores using Shop Local that report selling the brand, and if it is a Shop Local brand partner, the number of wedding gifts offered online and the top wedding gifts from the brand.

According to Shop Local, retailers can use the award to source new products. As an example, it said a retailer such as Babcock Gifts, which already sells 64% of the winning brands, could consider stocking products from the other 36% it does not carry.

On the websites that Shop Local manages, the award will automatically appear on the stores’ and brands’ pages.

Both brands and retailers can use Shop Local’s list of award finalists to increase their sales, Solarek said in a release.
