20% Of Consumers To Buy Holiday Gifts at Independent Retailers

20% Of Consumers To Buy Holiday Gifts at Independent Retailers
A recent study conducted by Jungle Scout reports that many consumers prefer to support small and local businesses for their holiday shopping. 20% reported they will buy holiday gifts from indie stores, up from 10% last year. The report ranks independent retailers in 4th place for in-store shopping, surpassing Costco, Walgreen's Best Buy, Sam's Club, Macy's and Home Depot.The article shares 53% of consumers bought online from independent stores on Small Business Saturday as reported by The American Express 2023 Saturday Consumer Insights survey. Additionally, YouGov and Bankrate found that 72% of consumers said they plan to shop with indie stores online or in person, up 65% from last year.
This is great news for Shop Local retailers! How can you make the most of this trend and capture all sales opportunities? Following are some tips:
- Post your store hours on your Shop Local Site. Be sure to update special Holiday hours so your customer know when you are open.
- Publish news articles promoting special events and sales. Many retailers host a Holiday Open House, this is an ideal news post.
- Add a Banner to your account promoting sales, discounts or free shipping for online orders.
- Update your site with pictures of your holiday displays.
- Promote your best-selling holiday products on your Shop Local site.
- Make sure you are synced with all the brands you carry and upload your best-selling non-syncing brands for your customers to buy.
