Steps to Take After Activating the Wholesale Service
  1. Ensure your brand settings (i.e., re-ordering terms) are added.
  2. Ensure your wholesale settings (i.e., email for receiver of orders, who is responsible (you or your reps), etc.) are added.
  3. Send retailers wholesale access invites via the My Retailers page and via the Retailer Directory.
    • Ensure each retailer has a sales rep assigned (especially if the wholesale order is set to go to the sales rep directly).
  4. Notify retailers that your wholesale service is live (e.g., send a mass email, post news and banner, etc.). You can send the email template below.
  5. Notify your reps about the service.
    • Your reps will want to know about your new service. You can send the email template below.
    • If you have assigned reps to be responsible for the order, they'll need to be aware of this. You can send the email template below.
  6. Include a flyer about your service in wholesale shipments.

 


Email template to send to a retailer notifying them about the service:

Dear Retail Partner, 

We have good news: We’re using a new system to make it easier for you to place wholesale orders. 


1. Details:

  • Placing an order is free for you. There is no service charge or fee.
  • Your sales rep will receive their full commission. (We support sales reps.)

 

2. How to Order:

  • If you have an existing Shop Local account, scroll to the bottom of your [brand name] brand page and click "Request Wholesale Access.”
  • If you’ve already been approved, simply click “Place Wholesale Order.”
  • Our software will send you to our account, automatically log you in, and allow you to complete your wholesale order.
  • You may also log in to our Shop Local account directly to start your order.
  • If you do not have an existing Shop Local account, you may sign up for a free Buyer Account at: https://www.shoplocal.org/pricing.cfm?retailers. 

 

3. Why Use Shop Local to Place Wholesale Orders?

We have good news: We’re using a new system to make it easier for your stores to place wholesale orders. You will receive your full commission for any and all orders placed via Shop Local.

About:

  • Shop Local allows retailers to place wholesale orders via our Shop Local account (e.g., brand.myshoplocal.com).  
  • The orders will now go directly to you, and you will then enter them in [insert name of your wholesale system, e.g., MarketTime].  This puts you directly in the loop with your customer.
  • 60+ premium brands use Shop Local to accept wholesale orders. As such, you may already be familiar with this system.


How to Handle an Order:

  • When a retailer places a wholesale order via Shop Local, you will receive an email. You are responsible for this order, just like them calling you.
  • You will enter the order in [insert name of your wholesale system, e.g. MarketTime].
  • You will then log in to your Shop Local account.
  • In your Shop Local account, you will update the order’s status to “Complete: Order entered in wholesale portal”. Please see the screenshot below.
