1. Create a test registry.
- You’ll want to be sure you’re logged out of your account first so you can go through the process as a registrant would.
- You’ll start a registry on the "Start a Registry" page. (Roll over "Gift Registry” > Click “Start a New Registry”)
- We suggest that you use a real email when creating this fake entry. You will then receive the emails that a registrant will receive.
2. Make a test registry purchase.
- Once you create your test registry, we recommend that you make a test purchase to see what a customer experiences.
- Before making a test purchase, be sure to still be logged out of your Shop Local account. Then, pick any item on the registry and go through the checkout steps.
- Check out as a "Guest." Do not log in as a returning customer.
- Since your account does not accept credit cards online, you will not need to enter a credit card.
- This process will be the same for gift givers/customers.
- You and your team would need to contact them for their payment information and process it via your POS: https://www.shoplocal.org/help-center.cfm/172/How-to-Process-an-Order-if-You-Do-Not-Have-Real-Time-Credit-Card-Processing-Setup-.
- If you wish to accept credit cards via Shop Local, you can let a Shop Local Coach know. You can view the terms and pricing here: https://www.shoplocal.org/help-center.cfm/474/Accept-Credit-Cards-Online-via-Your-Shop-Local-Store.
3. Review the order and update payment and order statuses.
- Once you place the test purchase, you’ll receive an email notifying you of the order.
- You’ll want to log back in to your Shop Local account to view the order. You’ll see a notice for the new order once you’re logged in.
- The order will appear under Retail orders.
- You will then want to update the payment and order statuses: https://www.shoplocal.org/help-center.cfm/451/Update-an-Order's-Status.
