Collections are a great, easy way to organize your products on Shop Local.
To ensure your products look their best, please follow our best practices below.
COLLECTIONS
- Collections should be used to organize products.
- Collections should have more than one item in them.
- The collection name should be removed from the product name. (E.g., If adding a Queen Victoria Dinner Plate item, the collection name would be "Queen Victoria" and the product name would be "Dinner Plate.")
- For brands: We recommend matching your primary website in terms of its organization.
- For retailers: Collections can only be added for non-Syncing Brands.
- Show off your various collections with lifestyle images. When navigating in those collections, the lifestyle image will appear as a banner at the top of the page.
SUB-COLLECTIONS
- Creating sub-collections for variations of the same pattern will help further organize your items. (E.g., A pattern that has multiple colors).
- When adding sub-collections, make sure there is more than one sub-collection. We do not recommend having a collection with only one sub-collection.
- The collection name should be removed from the sub-collection name.
- When adding a sub-collection into a "parent" collection, you can only do so if the parent has 0 items in it. For example: If the main collection "Queen Victoria" has items in it already, you would be unable to create sub-collections under it.
EXAMPLES
Rosenthal, a Syncing Brand, has a beautiful assortment of collections. All collections have more than 1 item in them. A divider ("Dinnerware") separates their product offering via their Overview page.
Juliska, a Syncing Brand, shares a lifestyle image for their Berry & Thread collection. Additionally, each parent collection has multiple sub-collections, and each sub-collection has more than 1 item.
Fragile Gifts, a retailer based in Atlanta, GA, has a collection for a non-Syncing Brand (L'Objet). Each product name does not include the collection name. (Shop Local's software will do that automatically.)
