Link Your Shopify Store With Your Shop Local Store
✅ Benefits of Linking
Before you begin, note that linking your Shopify store with Shop Local will:
- Allow you to import all your Shopify products into your Shop Local store. This will save you time, as you will only need to add new product listings once on Shopify and have them available to your store on two different platforms (Shopify and Shop Local).
- Allow you to link your existing Shop Local product listings with your Shopify product listings using matching SKU values. Linking your existing listings on both platforms will enable product details to remain synced across both platforms. To link existing products, follow the same product import instructions and Shop Local will automatically link your two products listings if their product / variant SKU values from both platforms match.
- Keep product details in sync every night (title, description, price, SKU, UPC, stock, listing status).
- Save time by managing your catalog in one place (Shopify) and have that product listing change be reflected on Shop Local.

- A confirmation window will open, click the "Release" button inside of it again.
6. Get Your API Credentials:
- In the left-side menu panel, click “Settings.”
- Your Client ID and Secret are accessible to you here.
- Copy and save BOTH your CLIENT ID and SECRET immediately. DO NOT LEAVE THIS PAGE UNTIL THE CLIENT ID AND SECRET ARE COPIED.
- Store it securely — you’ll need it for connecting with Shop Local.
7. Install the App:
- In the left-side menu panel, click “Home.”
- Click “Install app” at the top of the screen.
- Select the primary store you will be using for integration with Shop Local.
- Click "Install."
8. Locate Your Shopify Domain Name:
- After installing the app to your primary store, you will be taken back to your Shopify Admin page. Please find your primary Domain Name above the settings menu or in your Domains settings tab from the menu.
- It’s the text before .myshopify.com (e.g., storename from storename.myshopify.com).
- Note this down — you’ll use it when linking to Shop Local.
🌐 Step 2: Link Shopify to Shop Local
1. Log in to your Shop Local store.
2. Visit the Shopify Linking Page:
- You must be logged in to access this page.
- If not logged in, you’ll be redirected to an error page.
3. Enter Your Details:
- Shopify Domain Name (only the part before .myshopify.com)
- Client ID (from Step 6 of Create a Custom App in Shopify above)
- Secret Key (from Step 6 of Create a Custom App in Shopify above)
4. Submit the Form.
5. Verify the Connection:
- If you see the form again after submitting, double-check that your Domain Name, Client ID, and Secret Key are correct.
- Once linked successfully, you can begin importing your Shopify store products to your Shop Local Store. These imported products will begin syncing nightly with your Shopify store.
Note: You must be logged in to your store in order to access the Shopify Linking Page. You will be redirected to an error page if you are not logged in to your store and try to access the page from general site.
- DO NOT INCLUDE ".myshopify.com" as part of your Domain Name. Your Domain Name is only the text before ".myshopify.com."
- This form will only be visible if your Shop Local store is not already linked to a Shopify store, or if the information you submitted was incorrect. If you see the form again after submitting it, please ensure you input the correct Shopify domain name and secret key.
- Please ensure that you select the proper scopes listed in Step 4 of Create a Custom App in Shopify. Products and orders data will only be visible here when you select the scopes mentioned in Step 4.
💡 Notes & Tips
- Your Admin API Client ID and Secret are sensitive. Keep them private.
- Automatic sync runs nightly — manual sync isn’t required.
- You can contact coach@bridge.org for setup help.
- Linking form only appears if your Shop Local store is not already connected or if prior credentials were invalid.
- Brands & Distributors: You can modify the API setup in step 4 by selecting only the scopes below to read your data. This will only sync product data from your Shopify to your Shop Local. This will not make any updates to your Shopify:
- read_metaobjects
- read_inventory
- read_product_feeds
- read_products_listings
- read_products
- Retailers: You'll want to select all scopes in step 4. This will sync product data from your Shopify to your Shop Local. In a future update, this will also allow orders and products to be synced back and forth between your Shopify and your Shop Local.
